Arve Tellefsen is one of Norway’s most popular musicians. At the Jewish Cultural Festival Trondheim, he is back in his hometown and will play the violin of Jewish Jac Maliniak. Maliniak was a well-known musician and composer in Trondheim before World War II, who for many years was concertmaster in Palmehaven. Unfortunately, Maliniak and his wife Mathilde were deported and killed in Auschwitz in 1943. But the violin was taken care of by Maliniak’s daughter Maryla and her grandchildren. Therefore, today it is possible to hear the fine sound of this violin. This is how Tellefsen will honor Maliniak’s memory. We are proud to have Arve Tellfsen on the artist list in 2021 and welcome you to the opening performance.
There will also be an opportunity to get to know several of the other artists at this year’s festival.
